Moving exacqVision to New Hardware: Licensing and Migration Plan
A successful migration has two separate parts: moving the server configuration and moving the commercial license. Both must be planned before the old server is retired.
Document the current server
Save the license information, server edition, channel count, MAC address, serial number, software version, and update expiration.
Back up configuration and document storage, network, camera, user, and integration settings.
Prepare the destination
Install a supported operating environment and use a stable primary MAC address.
Confirm storage, network capacity, time settings, and camera connectivity before the final cutover.
Resolve licensing
- Renew the correct SSA if it is not current.
- Order EVIP-TRANSFER using the current and destination identifiers.
- Order additional EVIP-01 or EVENIP-01 channels separately if the new design requires more cameras.
Cutover and verification
- Apply the destination license.
- Confirm edition, channel count, and update expiration.
- Connect cameras and validate recording, search, users, integrations, and retention.
Rollback planning
Keep a documented rollback plan and do not destroy the original configuration or license records until the destination is verified.
Frequently asked questions
Does copying the database move the license?
No. Configuration migration and license transfer are separate.
Can the destination use a different edition?
A server edition change requires the applicable upgrade licensing; EVIP-TRANSFER by itself preserves the existing licensed entitlement.
When should I request the transfer?
After the destination MAC is stable and before the planned cutover.
What is the most important pre-migration record?
Save a clear screenshot or export of the current server license information.
