ExacqVision Licensing Guide

How to Transfer an exacqVision License to a New Server

An exacqVision server license is tied to a specific recorder identifier. When you replace hardware, rebuild a server, or move the installation to a new host, the license must be officially transferred to the destination identifier.

When a transfer is required

A transfer is normally required when the licensed server is replaced and the destination system has a different MAC address. The official Exacq catalog describes EVIP-TRANSFER as the server-license transfer used to move an existing license to a new MAC address.

Do not assume that copying the software installation, database, or configuration automatically moves the commercial license. The license file remains associated with the licensed recorder identifier.

Information to prepare

  • Current server MAC address, or the original Exacq server serial number when that is the accepted identifier.
  • New server MAC address. Use the primary active network adapter and avoid temporary, virtual, or changing identifiers.
  • Current license information, including whether the system is Professional or Enterprise.
  • Server name and project reference, if available, to reduce the risk of applying the transfer to the wrong system.

SSA requirement

The current server must have the correct Software Subscription Agreement in force at the time of transfer. Professional systems use the Professional SSA product; Enterprise systems use the Enterprise SSA product.

If SSA is expired, renew the correct SSA before the transfer request is processed.

Recommended sequence

  • Confirm the current server edition and identifier.
  • Renew the correct SSA if required.
  • Submit the current and destination identifiers with the EVIP-TRANSFER order.
  • Retrieve or receive the updated license file and apply it to the destination server.
  • Verify the edition, channel count, and software-update date after installation.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering Professional SSA for an Enterprise server.
  • Supplying the MAC address of an inactive or secondary network adapter.
  • Changing the destination MAC after the transfer has been generated.
  • Decommissioning the old server before recording its license information.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need current SSA before EVIP-TRANSFER?

Yes. Exacq lists a current SSA as a requirement for transferring a server license to a new MAC address.

Can I use the original server serial number?

For original Exacq hardware, the server serial number may be useful when identifying the existing licensed system. The destination identifier still needs to be confirmed.

Which product is used for the transfer?

EVIP-TRANSFER is the server license transfer product.

What should I verify after the transfer?

Check the server edition, licensed camera count, update expiration date, and destination MAC address.
